The inspiration behind naming this website Penstroke Publishing was taken from an infamous quote by District Attorney Reed Walters at the height of the controversial. JENA 6 case

After a dire warning, issued to a group of teenagers at an impromptu school assembly to address the fallout from the incident, particularly among the black community, Walters brandished his pen like the sword of Damocles.

“With a stroke of this pen,” he told the students, “I can take your life away!” I reflected on this extraordinary statement with its implicit “threat” and when I co-founded the publishing company had no hesitation in borrowing Walter’s “stroke of a pen” remark. It was the antithesis of our objectives: not only is the pen, in the right hands, mightier than the sword, it reinforces our commitment to publishing work which promotes our mission statement as above.
